AnglerIQ Copyright and Ownership Notices
Effective September 9, 2026
This document sets out who owns what in AnglerIQ, what you may and may not do with it, the attribution our third-party data sources require, and how to report copyright infringement.
1. Short Notice for the App and Website
Use this notice in the app footer, on the website footer, and on the about screen:
© 2026 AnglerIQ Inc. All rights reserved. AnglerIQ and the AnglerIQ logo are trademarks of AnglerIQ Inc.
2. What We Own
AnglerIQ Inc. owns the Service and everything in it that we created. That includes:
- The AnglerIQ application, its source code, object code, and underlying software.
- The website, its design, layout, and code.
- The AnglerIQ name, the AnglerIQ logo, and our other brands, marks, and trade dress.
- Our models, ranking logic, forecasting methods, and scoring systems.
- Our compilations, aggregations, and derived data sets, including the anonymized heat zone data.
- Our text, graphics, icons, illustrations, screens, and interface elements.
- Our documentation, help content, and marketing materials.
These are protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, and other laws. We reserve every right not expressly granted.
3. Your License
We grant you a limited, personal, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non commercial recreational fishing. That is the entire license.
You may not do any of the following without our written permission:
- Copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute any part of the Service.
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk extract data, whether by hand or by automated tool.
- Create a derivative work from the Service or our data.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except where that restriction cannot be enforced under applicable law.
- Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notice.
- Use our name, logo, or brand in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product.
- Use the Service or its data to build a competing product.
4. Content You Post
You keep ownership of your catch photos, profile photo, notes, trip plans, comments, and other content you create. You grant us a license to host and display it as described in section 8 of our Terms of Service, limited to the visibility setting you chose.
Do not post anything you do not have the right to post. That includes photographs taken by someone else, copyrighted images, and content lifted from another app or website.
5. Third Party Data and Required Attribution
AnglerIQ uses data and content licensed from third parties. Those parties keep their rights and several of them require specific attribution. The attribution below must appear in the app, on a reachable attribution or legal screen, and on any web page that displays the corresponding data.
5.1 Maps and geographic data
- Mapbox. Map rendering. Mapbox requires its logo and an attribution string to be displayed on the map itself. Use the attribution supplied by the Mapbox SDK and do not suppress it.
- OpenStreetMap. Base geographic data, licensed under the Open Database License. Attribution required: "© OpenStreetMap contributors." Note that the Open Database License is a share alike license and imposes conditions on derived databases.
- Overpass. Query access to OpenStreetMap data. Same attribution and licensing considerations as OpenStreetMap.
- Regrid. Parcel and property boundary data, used under a commercial license. Attribution and use restrictions are governed by that license. Display Regrid attribution where parcel data appears.
- Esri ArcGIS public layers. Additional geographic layers. Attribution per the terms of the specific layer used.
- PAD-US. Protected Areas Database of the United States, produced by the United States Geological Survey. A United States government work and generally in the public domain. Credit the USGS.
5.2 Weather, marine, and water data
- NOAA and the National Weather Service. United States government works, generally in the public domain. Credit NOAA. Do not present the data in a way that implies NOAA endorses AnglerIQ.
- USGS. Water condition data. United States government work. Credit the USGS.
- Open-Meteo. Weather data. Attribution required per its license terms.
5.3 Species information and imagery
- iNaturalist. Species records. Individual observations and photographs carry their own Creative Commons or other licenses set by the contributor. Each item must be attributed according to its own license. Do not assume one blanket attribution covers everything pulled from iNaturalist.
- Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Reference text and images. Wikipedia text is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike, which requires attribution, a link to the license, and share alike treatment of derivative text. Wikimedia Commons images carry individual licenses that vary image by image and must be attributed individually.
- Unsplash. Photography under the Unsplash License. Attribution is encouraged rather than required, but the license prohibits compiling photos to build a competing service. Credit the photographer.
- Google Places. Photos of water bodies. Google requires specific attribution for Places content and prohibits caching or storing most of it. Follow the Google Maps Platform terms exactly. This one carries real restrictions and should be reviewed against the current terms before launch.
5.4 Platform and infrastructure marks
Apple, App Store, Sign in with Apple, iOS, and related marks are trademarks of Apple Inc. Google, Google Play, and Sign in with Google are trademarks of Google LLC. Anthropic and Claude are trademarks of Anthropic PBC. Mapbox, Regrid, Clerk, Supabase, RevenueCat, Expo, Sentry, PostHog, Impact, and Bass Pro Shops are trademarks of their respective owners. Our use of these names is for identification only and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.
6. Suggested Attribution Screen will be added from Settings.

8. Trademark
AnglerIQ is our trademark. An application to register it with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is to be filed. Once the registration issues, the notice in section 1 should be updated to use the registered symbol. Until then, use the "TM" designation. Do not use the registered symbol before registration issues, because that is itself a violation.
