AnglerIQ Privacy Policy
Effective September 9, 2026
This policy explains what information AnglerIQ collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
The short version. We collect your account details, your catches and the locations attached to them, photos you upload, and basic usage and diagnostic data. Your exact catch coordinates are private to you. We do not sell your personal information. We do not run ads. We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites. You can delete your account and your data from Settings.
1. Who We Are
AnglerIQ is operated by AnglerIQ Inc., a Texas corporation ("AnglerIQ," "we," "us," or "our"). We are the business responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Contact: support@angleriqapp.com, or (903) 424-4805.
2. Who Can Use AnglerIQ
AnglerIQ is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it and close the account. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to us at support@angleriqapp.com.
AnglerIQ is offered in the United States only. We do not currently offer the Service to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
3. What We Collect
3.1 Account information
When you sign up we collect your email address and name through our identity provider. You can register with an email and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Sign in with Google. We also collect the display name, username, and profile photo you choose.
3.2 Precise location
With your permission, we collect precise location from your device. We use it to record where you caught a fish, to find water near you, to generate forecasts, and to run zone scans.
We collect location only while you are actively using the app. We do not track you in the background. We do not follow you when the app is closed.
Your exact catch coordinates are private to you. We never display them publicly. Public maps show only coarse aggregated zones of roughly five square kilometers, and only after enough different anglers have contributed data to a zone that no individual can be identified from it. You can turn off your contribution to public heat zones in Settings under "Contribute to public heat zones."
You control who sees each catch. Private means only you. Followers means the people who follow you. Public means everyone. Followers and Public show a general area, never an exact pin.
3.3 Photos
We collect catch photos, your profile photo, and any image you send to the AI guide for identification or advice. We access your camera or photo library only after you grant permission, and only for the picture you select.
Photos you send to the AI guide are transmitted to our AI provider to generate a response. See section 5.
3.4 Content you create
Species, length, weight, bait, notes, trip plans, messages to the AI guide, comments, likes, follows, and tournament submissions.
3.5 Subscription information
We receive your subscription status from our subscription management provider and from Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card number. Apple processes the payment.
3.6 Device and notification data
We collect a push notification token so we can send bite alerts, weekly digests, and tournament reminders. You can turn each of those off in Settings or turn off notifications entirely on your device.
3.7 Diagnostics
We collect anonymized crash and performance data through our diagnostics provider so we can find and fix problems. This data is not tied to your identity.
3.8 Analytics
We collect product analytics events, such as which screens you open and which features you use, associated with your account identifier. These events exclude exact coordinates, message text, photos, and email addresses.
4. Why We Collect It
- To create and run your account.
- To provide the core features you asked for, including catch logging, maps, forecasts, zone scans, trip planning, and the AI guide.
- To manage your subscription and confirm your access level.
- To send you the notifications you have opted into.
- To operate the community feed, tournaments, and leagues.
- To build the anonymized aggregate heat zones that make the Service useful to everyone, unless you opt out.
- To improve the product, fix bugs, and understand which features people use.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
5. Artificial Intelligence
AnglerIQ uses a third party AI provider for the guide chat, zone ranking, forecasts, photo based species identification, and automated research of publicly available fishing regulations.
When you use those features, the following is sent to that provider so it can generate a response: your message text, relevant context about the water and weather, and any photo you attach.
Under our agreement with that provider, your data is not used to train its models.
AI output is an estimate, not a verified fact. Our separate AI Output Disclaimer explains the limits.
6. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. We do not use advertising software development kits and we do not work with data brokers.
We do share information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit them to our instructions. Those providers, and what they handle, are:
6.1 Account, billing, and infrastructure
- Clerk. Account creation, authentication, and identity management.
- Apple. Sign in with Apple, In App Purchase billing, and push notification delivery.
- Google. Sign in with Google, the Places API for water photos, and map links that you choose to open.
- Supabase. Our database, photo storage, and backend functions.
- RevenueCat. Subscription status management.
- Expo and EAS. App build and delivery infrastructure.
- Sentry. Anonymized crash and performance diagnostics.
- PostHog. Product analytics.
6.2 Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
6.3 Maps, land, weather, and species data
These are primarily data sources we draw from rather than recipients of your personal information. Where a request to one of them includes location context, it is limited to what is needed to return the map tile, parcel layer, forecast, or species record.
- Mapbox. Map rendering.
- Regrid. Parcel and property boundary data.
- PAD-US. Public land layers.
- OpenStreetMap and Overpass. Base geographic data.
- Open-Meteo, NOAA, and USGS. Weather, marine, and water condition data.
- Esri ArcGIS public layers. Additional geographic layers.
- iNaturalist. Species records.
- Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Species reference information and images.
- Unsplash. Photography.
6.4 Affiliate links
We participate in an affiliate program through Impact with Bass Pro Shops. When the AI guide recommends bait, we may include a link that earns us a commission if you buy. These links are generated on our servers. We do not pass your personal information to the retailer. If you click through and buy something, that transaction is between you and the retailer under their privacy policy.
6.5 Other sharing
- Other users, according to the visibility settings you choose.
- Law enforcement or others, where we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent harm.
- A buyer or successor, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
7. Apple App Privacy Disclosures
Our App Store privacy labels reflect the practices described here. We report no data used to track you, because we do not track users across other companies’ apps and websites and we do not share data with data brokers.
If a future release changes what we collect, we will update both this policy and our App Store disclosures before that release goes live.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep your account information and content while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, catches, trips, photos, and rewards.
Some information persists after deletion:
- Anonymized aggregate heat zone data may remain, because it no longer identifies you or your specific catch location.
- Backup copies may persist for a limited period before they cycle out.
- Records we are required to keep by law, or that we need to resolve a dispute or enforce our agreements, are retained for as long as necessary.
- Anonymized diagnostic and analytics data may remain in aggregate form.
9. How to Delete Your Account
Open Settings in the app and choose account deletion. This removes your account, profile, catches, trips, photos, and rewards.
Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription. You must cancel separately through your Apple ID subscription settings, or Apple will keep charging you. See our Terms of Service, section 7.
10. Your Choices
- Location. Grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Some features will not work without it.
- Public heat zones. Turn off "Contribute to public heat zones" in Settings.
- Catch visibility. Set each catch to Private, Followers, or Public.
- Notifications. Turn off bite alerts, weekly digests, and tournament reminders individually in Settings, or turn off notifications on your device.
- Camera and photos. Grant or revoke permission in your device settings.
- Account. Delete it in Settings.
11. California Privacy Rights
This section applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. We provide these rights to all our users regardless of where they live, because we think that is the right way to run the product.
11.1 Categories of personal information we collect
- Identifiers. Name, email address, username, account identifier, device identifiers, and push tokens.
- Commercial information. Subscription status and purchase history from Apple.
- Internet and network activity. Feature usage, screens viewed, and crash and performance data.
- Geolocation data, including precise geolocation. Catch coordinates and location used to find nearby water and generate forecasts.
- Visual information. Catch photos, profile photos, and photos sent to the AI guide.
- Inferences. Zone rankings, bite forecasts, and bait suggestions generated about the water you are fishing.
11.2 Sensitive personal information
Precise geolocation is treated as sensitive personal information under California law. We collect it only to deliver the features you asked for and to build anonymized aggregate zones. We do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you. We do not sell or share it. You therefore do not need to submit a request to limit its use, because we already limit it to the permitted purposes.
11.3 Sources
We collect information directly from you, automatically from your device as you use the app, and from our subscription and identity providers.
11.4 No sale or sharing
We have not sold personal information and we have not shared it for cross context behavioral advertising in the preceding twelve months. We do not sell or share the personal information of minors under 16, because our Service is limited to adults.
11.5 Your rights
- Know. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients.
- Delete. Request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct. Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Limit use of sensitive personal information. We already limit our use to the permitted purposes.
- Non discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality experience for exercising these rights.
11.6 How to make a request
Email support@angleriqapp.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." Tell us what you want and include the email address on your account. We will verify your identity by confirming control of that email address, and we may ask for additional information if the request involves specific pieces of data.
We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time we will tell you and may take up to 90 days total.
You may use an authorized agent. The agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may still contact you directly to confirm.
12. Other State Privacy Rights
Residents of Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. We do not engage in targeted advertising, sale, or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Use the same contact method in section 11.6 and we will handle your request. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision. If we deny the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
Texas residents may note that we obtain your consent before collecting precise geolocation, which Texas law treats as sensitive data.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. That includes encryption in transit, access controls, and vendors selected in part for their security practices.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed without authorization. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for how to respond to it, so we do not respond to it. We do not track you across third party apps and websites regardless.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will post the updated policy with a new effective date and notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Please check back from time to time.
