AnglerIQ Fishing, Wildlife, and Private Property Disclaimer

Effective September 9, 2026

AnglerIQ shows you fishing regulations, seasons, size and bag limits, public land layers, and private property boundaries. All of it is a convenience. None of it is official.

This disclaimer is part of our Terms of Service and is incorporated into them.

1. The Rule That Governs Everything Else

ANGLERIQ IS A PLANNING TOOL. IT IS NOT A LEGAL AUTHORITY, NOT AN OFFICIAL RECORD, NOT A LICENSE, AND NOT A SURVEY. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING AND FOLLOWING THE LAW WHERE YOU FISH.

If AnglerIQ and a state wildlife agency disagree, the agency is right and we are wrong. Every time. No exceptions.

2. Fishing Regulations

We show seasons, size limits, bag limits, gear restrictions, and species rules gathered from publicly available sources. Those sources change and we do not always catch the change in time.

The following routinely do not appear in what we show you:

Before you fish, confirm current rules directly with the state wildlife agency with jurisdiction over that water. Most publish a current regulations guide online and most have a phone number. Use it.

3. Licenses and Permits

AnglerIQ is not a license and does not issue one. It does not check whether you have one.

You are responsible for holding every license, permit, tag, stamp, and endorsement required for the water you fish, the species you target, the method you use, and the state you are in. Requirements differ between residents and non residents, between fresh and salt water, and between species. A license valid in one state is generally worthless in the next one.

4. Private Property and Parcel Boundaries

PROPERTY BOUNDARY LINES SHOWN IN ANGLERIQ ARE APPROXIMATE. THEY COME FROM THIRD PARTY PARCEL DATA. THEY ARE NOT A SURVEY, THEY ARE NOT A TITLE RECORD, AND THEY ARE NOT A LEGAL DETERMINATION OF WHO OWNS ANYTHING.

Parcel data is compiled from county records of varying age and quality. Lines can be off by a meaningful distance. Ownership changes and the data lags. Easements, leases, access agreements, and rights of way generally do not appear at all. A parcel line on your screen tells you nothing about whether you may legally stand somewhere.

Do not use AnglerIQ to decide whether you are trespassing. Trespass is a civil matter in every state and a criminal matter in many, including Texas. Beyond the legal exposure, a confrontation with a landowner over a boundary can escalate badly and people have been hurt.

Before you enter or cross land, or fish from a bank you are not certain about:

5. Public Land and Water Access

Public land layers show land that appears to be publicly held. That is not the same as land you may access, and it is not the same as water you may fish.

Public land may be closed seasonally, closed for management or fire, restricted to certain uses, subject to permit requirements, or leased. Some public land has no legal access route and is surrounded by private property. Reaching it by crossing private land is trespass even though the destination is public.

Water access law varies enormously by state. Who owns a stream bed, whether you may wade, whether you may float, and whether you may anchor or portage are all state specific questions with genuinely different answers. Texas, in particular, has its own body of law on navigable streams and on the coastal margin. Do not assume the rule from one state carries to another.

6. Species Identification

Species information and photo identification in AnglerIQ are references and estimates. They are not authoritative.

Size limits, bag limits, seasons, and protected and endangered status are all species specific. Misidentifying a fish can put you in violation even if you were acting in good faith. Some protected species closely resemble common ones.

Confirm the species yourself before you keep a fish. If you are not certain, release it.

7. Safety

FISHING AND BEING ON OR NEAR WATER CARRY REAL RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH. ANGLERIQ IS NOT A SAFETY TOOL AND IS NOT A NAVIGATION TOOL.

Do not use AnglerIQ for navigation. Use official charts and proper marine electronics. Our maps do not show hazards, depth reliably, current, ice conditions, submerged structure, or navigational aids.

You are responsible for your own safety and for anyone with you. That includes life jackets, weather judgment, telling someone where you are going, and knowing when to turn around. Check the National Weather Service and the Coast Guard before you go.

8. Conservation and Ethics

Follow catch and release best practices when you release. Do not transport live bait or water between water bodies where that is restricted, because that is how invasive species spread. Clean, drain, and dry your boat and gear. Pack out what you bring in. Respect other anglers and respect landowners.

9. No Warranty and Assumption of Risk

ALL REGULATION, BOUNDARY, PUBLIC LAND, SPECIES, WATER, AND CONDITION INFORMATION IN ANGLERIQ IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITH NO WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, CURRENCY, OR COMPLETENESS.

BY USING ANGLERIQ YOU ASSUME ALL RISK ARISING FROM YOUR FISHING ACTIVITY, YOUR ACCESS DECISIONS, AND YOUR SAFETY DECISIONS. YOU AGREE THAT ANGLERIQ IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CITATION, FINE, PENALTY, ARREST, PROSECUTION, CIVIL CLAIM, PROPERTY DAMAGE, INJURY, OR DEATH ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. THE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY IN OUR TERMS OF SERVICE APPLY IN FULL.

10. Tell Us When We Are Wrong

If you find a regulation, boundary, or species error, report it at support@angleriqapp.com. We will look at it and correct what we can. Reporting it helps the next angler, and it is the fastest way for us to find bad source data.
